A little something about weapons.

THEY’RE COMIN’ THROUGH THE DOOR! GRAB THE AR!
So yeah, not everybody can shoot. I’m sure you have seen videos on youtube of people holding a 12 gauge, firing the weapon, and it hits them in the face. Some people don’t know that when they tell you to shoulder the weapon, hold it tight. Well, if you don’t know it by now, you WILL learn it when Z-Day hits.
First lets talk about firearms. Movies, TV shows, and video games make it look SO friggin easy to shoot someone in the head. Well guess what, its really not. Not with out lots of practice. It doesn't matter what firearm you are using (except maybe a shot gun from 10-15 feet away… maybe) its not easy.
So lets talk about how we clear this up for a minute. You have pistols, “assault rifles” these are your run of the mill AR, AK, SKS etc. Then you have your long range weapons. People will tell you ALL day what the “best” pistol or AR variant is the best. Well that’s them, not you. Go to the nearest gun range, spend a little money and find what you like. Make sure it fits in your hands enough so you can get as much grip as possible. You don’t want to drop a pistol at the range. Prepare yourself for the recoil. Its not as bad as you might think.
AR? or AK? I don’t expect my opinion to sway anyone in anyway (especially about firearms) Do the research and ask around. See if you can find someone who has an AR or an AK and see if they will take you to the range and test its performance. The only way you can really know if something is for you, is by trying it.
Ok, so the following is my opinion and why.
Pistols: I go with 9mm. Why? 9mm pistols hold a lot of ammunition per magazine. 40 or 45 acp might have more stopping power, but lack in how much you can carry, unless you’re a big guy, then you can carry more. Also, another question, semi auto or revolver? I prefer semi auto, but my father likes his Python. He used to be a police officer and was trained with revolvers. So he goes with something he knows. Which is what i suggest about any and everything. Stick with what you know.
Semi auto Rifles: 5.56 or 7.62×39? In certain weapons, some ammunition will out range the other. AR-15 or AK-47? Once again, its personal preference. I am an SKS owner myself. I can handle the recoil, I love the round and the platform its self, its pretty formidable. AR style weapons are known for their performance. The cool tactical guys use them all the time. AK-47’s on the other hand, aren't as accurate, but have more stopping power. Those aren't the only semi auto rifles out there though. You have 30-06, .300, .308. The list goes on and on.
Long Range Rifles: .308, .338 Lapua, 50 cal. etc. These are calibers that can easily reach out to +1000 yards or more and still have stopping power. They might be heavy as hell and only hold a few rounds in a magazine, but can stop an elephant in its tracks.
As far as firearms are concerned, get what you’re comfortable with. Study it like you’re in high school. Practice it like you’re Rambo.

Aug. 8, 2013. First post!

So yeah, it's been a while since I have created this blog, and I have been more focused on prepping. But I guess prepping for a perpetuated "Z Day", and SHTF, both kinda go hand in hand. So here is one of the sites that I have been checking out for gear: http://store.kingsarsenal.com/

I think a lot of the stuff here might come in handy, being it SHTF or Z day, or what ever you want to prep for. Another great site to keep in mind, is Amazon.com. I have found TONS of items on there to help get preps started.

One here, I have found for home defense, http://tacticalwalls.com/. Its a good way to hide in plain sight.

Here is a video to keep you guys busy till my next post.
